The mission of Casting for Recovery (CfR) is to empower women in treatment or recovery from breast cancer through oncology-informed retreats. These retreats connect women to each other and to nature using the therapeutic sport of fly fishing—and are offered at no cost to participants.
Highlights
Funding Needs
$2,000 – Provide a life-changing retreat experience for one woman, including meals, lodging, equipment, and supplies.
$5,000 – Support outreach and resources tailored to the real-life needs of young women. Women under 50 are often balancing careers and parenting alongside breast cancer treatment. Young women are CfR’s fastest-growing applicant group.
$10,000 – Support nationwide outreach, vetting, and training of oncology medical and psychosocial volunteers. These wellness volunteers donate their time and share their expertise at 60 retreats annually.
$20,000 – Provide crucial support to expand CfR’s Metastatic Retreats Program and serve more women facing limited time and fewer support and resource options. Thirty percent of women with early-stage breast cancer will develop metastatic breast cancer (MBC).
